With specialist producers in many areas and a long track record in education, Performance Media has been a natural partner for three organizations wishing to make mental health videos.
Northants NHS trust has commissioned a series of videos on DVD to help train health professionals and carers who are working with learning disability clients. Based on a series of case studies, the video focuses on clients who are moving out of closed accommodation into community houses, a process which has led to great success in encouraging more independent living.
Northants County Council Independent Living Team have commissioned a video to help clients with learning difficulties recognise different types of abuse. The video helps service users understand that abuse is not acceptable and that action can be taken to prevent it happening. The video is being made with the active help of service users and health professionals who are role playing situations where abuse can occur.
The 'Full of Life' project is a charitable organisation based in Kensington, London. Formed originally by parents and carers, it aims to provide a stimulating environment for young people suffering from profound mental and physical disabilities. Performance Media is making a video to show carers and professional workers how stimulation through activities, visits, active pursuits and games can dramatically improve the responsiveness of the young people and lead to a greatly improved quality of life.
